Aspiring Eyes

Leaves of gold
Awakened from slumber,
To perform
For aspiring eyes.
Flung into air,
Suspended in spotlight,
Virtue prevails.
Humble leaves spin,
Muted lesser sides
All there is to see.

  1. Very pretty, seems to be a string of haiku? However, I'm not quite sure I understand it yet.. There's something bugging me about the last three lines, I don't quite get it.

My guess: The beauty of Autumn?

  2. I feel like Sarah is someone who doesn't know what a haiku is. Sorry sarah!!!! and I think its about how people sacrifice things for the sake of beauty..maybe?

  3. first of all, i DO know what a haiku is! it is an ancient form of japanese poetry that is usually about nature and is three lines long, the first and and last line having 5 syllables and the second line having 7 syllables! I learned that in second grade! (and its in an avatar episode)
but as for the meaning of the poem, it is both the beauty of autumn AND how people sacrifice things for the sake of beauty. but mostly the latter(ish)

  5. no, it was not zuko's uncle, iroh; it was, surprisingly, sokka! When he wanders into a haiku poetry slam thing! He was called "a blundering oaf" and a haiku by him was
    "that's right, i'm sokka
    that's spelt with an 'okka'
    young ladies' I rock ya!"
but the last line had too many syllables so he got kicked out via the window. Typical sokka.
