I am hallow,
like a stringed instrument.
Tap my shell
and it will echo,
pull my strings
and they will vibrate.
Back and forth
within my walls
I hear the sound
being tossed
between
the thin sheets
of instillation.
It hums in my ear
and is all I have
to fill this hallow gap,
inside
and out.
like a stringed instrument.
Tap my shell
and it will echo,
pull my strings
and they will vibrate.
Back and forth
within my walls
I hear the sound
being tossed
between
the thin sheets
of instillation.
It hums in my ear

If I am following this analogy correctly, you are saying that the speaker feels like a hollow instrument who can only experience sound (senses) when they are acted on by another (someone playing the instrument). I like this idea, usually it is presented as a marionette (dolls on strings)...nice take on the idea. I would like to see some more acoustical imagery used to get your idea across, words like reverberation, harmonics, etc...I also need to know why the speaker feels like nothing more than a passive instrument...is it because of something he/she has done/not done, or is there an outside force that is working against the speaker?
