Magic

A pen I found, forgotten in my desk drawer that never opens. I recognize it instantly-it used to be favorite. When I was little, I would use it to write Christmas cards and letters to Santa. I was always amazed that the outside of the pen was black, yet the ink on my paper was red. I thought it was magic.
Now I'm writing in one of my many half-filled journals, hoping I don't run out of ink.

Even magic dies.

  1. This is really good. It kind of makes me feel nostalgic for the days when I was little and there was "magic" around every corner. Anyways good job! I like how you made the ink "fade" away. Pretty clever!!!! XD

  2. This was very clever and brought back many memories, because as a child I had several notebooks all half empty form when I was a kid. There was nothing that made me angrier then a pen fading away as I was putting my thoughts on paper. I used to think of it as magic. One moment I’m pouring my thoughts out and the next it's invisible, as though it had disappeared. Soon after I realized that it was the pen that had died and I would use another till that one did the same, an endless cycle. So thanks for the flash back, because the past is what makes us who we are today.

  3. What a sobering story...I love it, it hits right on the head that feeling you get when you come across something that you immediately reminisce over...well done

  4. I love love love this piece...it totally brings memories of my early writing as a child when I wrote silly poems and short stories in this itty bitty book I had...I would write for a couple minutes and it seemed every time I used a pen, it would run out and I'd have to get another. Sort of a bitter love for this memory. <3 Thanks for bringing it back. :)
